The journal’s name, ‘The Incubator’ has been inspired by those notepads full of thoughts every writer owns, the scraps of pages, the notes on smart phones documenting snippets of overheard conversations, the pulling over on roadsides to nab a fleeting thought before it’s gone for good – incubators bring to mind where the majority of writing is done, away from any desk, fermented in the quiet moments.
We aim to represent short story writers living all over Ireland and Northern Ireland, to fill that void of short fiction publications in the North particularly.
We aim to showcase and nurture the talent of local writers, established and emerging alike, to give an opportunity for like-minded people to meet and read their work in public with the launch of each issue.
